Team Chippewa blows out shorthanded That’s How We Do Work, takes control of the Eastern Conference.

Buffalo, NY- As the inaugural season of Kronies Jamfest winds down many dreams are being shattered, kings are being crowned, and local rec-ball heroes are being made.  Week 8 was another dazzling day of basketball at the Knights.  In the 3pm game, KW Appliances battled Elmwood Village Cut & Shave as both teams battled to hold on to the final spot in the Eastern Conference.  Brian Walter started out sharp, going four for four from downtown in the first half, but it wasn’t enough to stop Tom Lee (24 pts, 5 rebs) and Elmwood Village Cut & Shave who held on for the win, 53-51.

In the 4pm game Healthy Buffalo 2.0 tried to play the spoiler as they took on 4-2 Malone’s.  However, things got ugly early as Healthy Buffalo 2.0 big man Tim Book was ejected early in the first half, leaving his team shorthanded to face off against Ray Fitzpatrick and Malone’s.  Despite a valiant effort and a career high 26 points from Will Castro, Malone’s pulled off the victory 63-42.  In the 5pm game the Billies took on Practical Modern Basketball in a hard fought contest as both teams tried to get into the win column.  Practical Modern Basketball center and leader Darren Kresge (15 pts, 9 rebs) came back strong from a lower back injury to lead his team to a 45-43 victory.

In the 8pm game the 4-2 Seven-One-Sixers took on the 4-2 NF Boys as both teams fought to stay alive in the race for the number one seed in the West.  In another nail-biter, Mike Cavanaugh (20 pts, 8 rebs) led the NF Boys to a 45-43 victory, despite a strong effort from Cantrell Parrish (20 pts, 10 rebs).  In the 9pm game the 5-2 Flint Tropics faced off against John Meyers and the 2-4 Shining Force.  In a brief interview before the game Shining Force swing-man John Meyers, who was celebrating his 25th birthday, declared that all he wanted for his birthday was a W.  After jumping out to a 13 point lead behind the strong inside play of Mike Ridge (23 pts), the Shining Force fought back and scored the game winning basket as time expired locking up their third win of the season.

Key Matchups for Week 9:

In the Western Conference Malone’s can clinch the division with a win over the NF Boys in the 3pm game.  In the Eastern Conference That’s How We Do Work looks to bounce back from it’s first loss against KW Appliances, who are looking to wrap up one of the last two playoff spots in the East.
