Jon Hannon v Mark Giordano Healthy BuffaloBrian Alley leads Reloaded with 30 points in win over the Flint Tropics, while Healthy Buffalo knocks off Team First to join YAO KNOW WHAT I MING as the only two remaining undefeated teams.

Buffalo, NY-  The tradition of basketball in the hot summer gym continued in the fifth week of action in the Champions League.  In the first game of the day Reloaded cruised to their third win of the season with a 72-45 win over the Flint Tropics.  Brian Alley led all scorers with 30 points and kept his squad in the hunt in League B at the midpoint in the season.  The VeryAggressiveGuys also picked up their third win of the season against The U.H., whose season is turning out a lot like the Flint Tropics, as both teams struggle to keep their squads together.  Ben Walkow blew the game wide open in the second half, scoring 19 of his 22 in the last twenty minutes to seal the game.

Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy knocked off the Billies to hand them their third loss of the season, leaving them with a 1-3 record and just hanging on to the last playoff spot in League B.  Clayton Hess led all scorers with 22 points in the win.  John Bowen (22 points) and Darren Kresge (18 points) continued to give Healthy Buffalo one of the league’s best 1-2 punches as they knocked off Team First and stand alone as the only undefeated team in League B.  They will have their toughest test yet next week as they play an explosive Schiller Park Boyz team, who are coming off their first loss of the season and look to get back in the win column.  They were upset in the final game of League B action against Nick DiGangi and White Men Can’t Jump.  Dave McNall continued to demonstrate what a solid pick up he was for the team with a game high 16 points.

Brian Alley Healthy BuffaloIn the first game of action in League A, Concrete picked up their first win of the season with a breathtaking 77-76 win over the Spartans, who continue to have every game go right down to the wire this season.  Jerome Fountain had one of his best games of the season scoring 15 points, while Mike Jeffries kicked in a game high 19 points.  In the 7pm game Swoopin’ In On Ya Girl knocked off the Fastbreakers while they continue to shake off a slow start and climb the rankings in the division.  John Papincak hit the game winning shot as time expired while leading his squad with 19 points.  Jon Marsh continued his explosive scoring streak for Full Clip with a 35 point performance in a big win over R.I.P. Ent. Jason Rowe kicked in 24 points mostly in the second half but it was too little too late for R.I.P. Ent as they suffered their third loss of the season 77-74.

In the 9pm game the Raw Dawgs feasted on a Burgio-less Sponge Bob Square Pants team, who missed not just his size and scoring but also his leadership on the court.  Matt Tucholski did his best in Burgio’s absence leading all scorers with 26 points, but the Raw Dawgs just game them too much too handle.  The game also marked the first game in the post Lafleur era, as he may have played his final game in a Sponge Bob uniform in Week 4 after relocating outside Buffalo.  Arrangements are currently being made to retire his jersey in as he ends his Healthy Buffalo career as the tenth all-time leading scorer.  The entire Healthy Buffalo squad wishes him the best of luck in the future and looks forward to some cameo appearances down the road whenever possible.

Yao Know What I Ming Healthy BuffaloIn the final game of the night YAO KNOW WHAT I MING knocked off Norfolk N’ Chance as they look to become the first ever team to go through the Champions League undefeated.  Adam Brasky led a furious second half charge for Norfolk N’ Chance, to cut the lead down to three, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the slow start.  Joe Coppola feasted from downtown in the first half, while leading his team with 17 points and sole possession of first place in League A.

Champions League action continues next week!
