The NDN Gunners hand TBD their first loss of the season in the championship game.
Buffalo, NY- After a long and memorable inaugural season of the Healthy Buffalo Women’s League, the NDN Gunners have captured the title. The NDN Gunners came out on fire as Carla Jemison (20 points) and Alyssa Snyder (25 points) knocked down eight first half 3-pointers between them to jump out to a 38-24 lead at the half. In the second half Mimi Williams did most of the damage, scoring 10 of her 14 points in the second. The NDN Gunners picked the right time to get hot and had too much depth for TBD to make a serious challenge.
The league’s leading scorer Mary Beth Nugent played admirably, leading TBD with 27 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop the NDN Gunners from pulling off the 85-61 win and cementing their place in the Healthy Buffalo history books. The NDN Gunners have now become the first ever Women’s League champs and brought home the 36″ championship trophy, vintage Healthy Buffalo jerseys, and champions t-shirts.
