It’s off to the races in the fourth season of Healthy Buffalo women’s basketball.  The Buffalo Defenders had the opening week bye, but came out in force in Week 2.

Buffalo, NY-  The Women’s League is back in action!  Season 4 has a couple returning teams and a lot of new teams.  After two weeks of play everything appears to be wide open.  Team 716 had a huge opening week win over a shorthanded Amherst Tigers squad.  Joey Ruderman came out on fire scoring 12 of her 16 points in the first half, while Charmaine Weaver led a relentless run-and-gun attack in the second half while racking up a game high 24 points.  Jodi Battaglia led the Tigers with nine points.

In the second game of action Katie Kapanek (12 points) led the Granny Shots to a big win over the Shining Force.  The Granny Shots used a big first half to control the game and the Shining Force couldn’t get back into the game in the second half despite a real nice 3-pointer by Lacey Pierce.

In the 8:30 pm game a veteran Healthy Buffalo squad picked up the 53-31 win over the Hot Shots.  Healthy Buffalo was led by league newcomer Michelle Jordan who scored a game high 15 points and veterans Tara Topolski (13 points) and Chelsea Howard (11 points).  The Hot Shots had a real strong showing from Ashley Kirbis (12 points) and will look to regroup for next week.

The action resumes this Wednesday at 6:30 pm!
