With Kronies Jamfest 2 officially in the books, it’s already time for the BSWA to see how we can make Kronies Jamfest 3 better, more refined, and more electric.  For the third edition we are eliminating the bye week.  With games played on the weekends, there will naturally be a bye week at least once each session for holidays, adding another bye week takes people out of the loop for too long.  For the third session and going forward, we will move back to the top four format for making the playoffs, while the rest of the teams will play for the Consolation Bowl.  Every game counts.  Drop out of the top four and your championship dreams will be crushed.

Deep at thought on Kronie Jamfest 3

For the third session we will also unveil the Kronies Jamfest All-Star game.  Think you are one of WNY’s top ballers?  Prove it on the court.  All-Stars will be selected by 1/3 fan vote, 1/3 player vote, and 1/3 BWSA vote.  All players selected will receive a custom made All-Star jersey for the game to keep for their accomplishments.  The All-Star game will follow immediately after the League B and League A championship games and will be complemented with food, drinks, and music for the fans and be recorded live.

We would like to welcome The Law Offices of Timothy J. Hennessy as an official sponsor to the BSWA.  Record a triple double, drop thirty points or hit the game winning basket?   Good work, you just might be named The Law Offices of Timothy J. Hennessy Player of the Week.

We would also like to welcome Isagenix as a league sponsor.  Isagenix provides a wide range of nutritional supplements to take your game to the next level.  Check back soon as we add links to the Isagenix website where you can get more info.

Kronies Jamfest 3 will be upon us in no time.  Work on your vertical, touch up your jumper, jog five miles a day to work on your endurance.  Do whatever it takes.  The competition will be fierce.  Every advantage you can get will be put to use.  And most importantly:  Register today, before its to late.

Live Healthy!

Kronies Jamfest 2 League A Champions R.I.P. Ent

Kronies Jamfest 2 League B Champions Flint Tropics

R.I.P. Ent wraps up historic playoff run with Championship.  Flint Tropics shock Norfolk N’ Chance and capture League B Championship.

Buffalo, NY-  The second running of Buffalo’s #1 basketball league came to an end this past Sunday as R.I.P. Ent put an end to Sponge Bob Square Pants late season Cinderella run and the Flint Tropics shocked Norfolk N’ Chance in a come from behind shocker in League B.

The League A Championship featured the 5th and 6th seeded teams as all of the top four teams had been eliminated by the late runs of R.I.P. Ent and Sponge Bob Square Pants.  Spong Bob jumped out to a quick start and controlled the tempo throughout most of the game.  Big man Jon Burgio had another outstanding game with 16 points, having his way in the paint through most of the game.  But in the second half R.I.P. Ent picked up the intensity and defensive pressure behind the inspirational play of captain Darcell Thomas (15 points) and big man Marcus Loder (16 points).  R.I.P. Ent took it’s first lead with less than two minutes remaining in the game.  In the final seconds Jon Burgio had a chance to tie the game with two free throws.  He made the first free throw, but missed the second, allowing R.I.P. Ent to capture their first Kronies Jamfest Championship, 55-54.

In the League B Championship #1 seed Norfolk N’ Chance looked to cap off their near perfect season with a win over the forth seeded Flint Tropics, but captain Nick Pfohman and Andy Tate were looking for the upset and a Championship themselves.  Norfolk N’ Chance controlled the first half behind a dominant performance by Jon Plail, who scored 16 of his 32 points in the half and led his team to a 37-30 point lead at the break.  The Flint Tropics came out firing in the second half as Nick Pfohman (32 points) lit up the court from inside, outside, and at the free throw line to push the game to OT with a 59-59 point tie at the end of regulation.  In the extra period Nick Pfohman hit another big three and a number of free throws to finish off the upset and capture the League B Championship 69-65.

That puts a wrap on Buffalo’s #1 basketball league, while at the same time sets the stage for Kronies Jamfest 3.  Will R.I.P. Ent be able to repeat in an even more competitive fall league?  Will Elton Frazier and Jon Burgio return for another shot at Buffalo’s most prestigious basketball prize?  In League B will Norfolk N’ Chance regroup and find someone to replace electric swing-man and highlight sensation Dean Antalik?  Will Nick Pfohman bring back the Flint Tropics to defend the title?  Only time will tell.  Stay tuned to healthybuffalo.org for details.  Kronies Jamfest 3 begins November 12th.  Registration is now open.

Norfolk N’ Chance keeps it’s title hopes alive, while R.I.P. Ent tops Court Justice in a thriller.

Buffalo, NY-  With only four teams remaining in each division, the quest for a Kronies Jamfest 2 title has almost reached it’s conclusion.  In the first game of the night Norfolk N’ Chance took on the Tub Men, who were coming off a big upset win against Swagged Out in round one.  The Tub Men looked like they might pull it off, with the first half ending tied up at 19 a piece.  In the second half though Dean Antalik stepped it up scoring 11 of his 16 in the half and leading Norfolk N’ Chance to a 56-42 victory.

Game 2 continued the rivalry between Court Justice and R.I.P. Ent.  Court Justice got off to a hot start behind three quick three pointers by Ed Stephens (17 points) and a strong first half by Tim Irvin (15 points) and jumped out to a 40-31 point lead at the half.  The second half was a different story as R.I.P. Ent picked up the intensity as Jamal Cottman (20 points) and Marcus Loder (10 points) took some of the scoring pressure off Darcell Thomas (19 points) and got R.I.P. Ent back into the game.  With only five minutes remaining they took their first lead of the game.  Brian Walter (15 points) hit a number of big shots down the stretch, but it wasn’t enough to fend off R.I.P. Ent who pulled out another one point victory, 67-66.

In game 3 a surging Sponge Bob Square Pants took on Victor’s.  This one was sealed up early as Sponge Bob jumped out to a 19-2 lead early and cruised throughout.  It was a disappointing conclusion for Victor’s who had a great regular season.   They played their final game with only five players and had trouble matching up against the size and depth of Sponge Bob Square Pants, who were led by captain Jon Burgio (27 points), Elton Frazier (12 points), and Matt Tucholski who had a season high 16 points.  With the 70-54 win, Sponge Bob will move on to face R.I.P. Ent for the championship this Saturday.

With three of the final four spots wrapped up, the Billies played the Flint Tropics in the final game of the night.  The Flint Tropics got big games out of Andy Tate (17 points) and Nick Pfohman (16 points), while Mark Ward (19 points) did his best to keep the Billies in the game.  In the end the Flint Tropics squeezed out a 61-52 point victory to advance to the championship next Saturday.
