Getzville, NY- The final team to be crowned champions at the APEX last Tuesday night was the Brotherhood in a hard fought and emotional game. At the half, the game couldn’t have been much closer, with only one bucket separating the two teams 28-26. But in the second half emotions and frustrations flared which threw Beals off of their game. In the end, The Brotherhood pulled ahead to make the final score 58-42.
High scoring player of the game and night was The Brotherhood’s Timmy Thomas who netted 18 points, 12 of which came in the first half. Thomas was followed by Nick Sepe and Jerome Knight each with 10 points. Everyone on the Brotherhood’s roster was able to contribute to the final score.
Despite the loss, Robert Stephan played his heart out for Beals. He had a team high 16 points as well as being able to use his size to come up with some key blocks and rebounds. Nick Wheeler was also able to post 8 points over the course of the game with almost everyone on the roster making good contributions. In the end though it was The Brotherhood who was able to show their depth and discipline to eventually emerge as the victor.
Healthy Buffalo would like to thank all the teams and players who have shown so much passion and made our APEX leagues such a success. Unfortunately, for the foreseeable future we will no longer be able to hold leagues at the APEX. However, we encourage any players or teams that are interested to check out and register for one of our other great basketball leagues being held at the North Buffalo Community Center or the Knights of Columbus.
