A Letter to Our Healthy Buffalo Families

When I started Healthy Buffalo, it was never just about basketball.

It was about kids.

It was about creating opportunities for children to move, build confidence, make friends, learn resilience, and develop the habits that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

As a father myself, I think a lot about the world our kids are growing up in. They face challenges that previous generations never had—more screens, less movement, fewer opportunities to simply go outside and play. I truly believe we’re raising a generation that needs more physical activity, more teamwork, more positive role models, and more opportunities to do difficult things.

Sports don’t just build athletes—they build character.

They teach discipline, courage, humility, perseverance, and the confidence that comes from earning something through hard work. Win or lose, those lessons stay with our kids long after the final whistle.

That’s why every season we work so hard to create affordable, welcoming programs where every child can belong—whether they’re picking up a basketball for the first time or already dreaming of playing at the next level.

This summer, we still have a few great opportunities available:

Coach Dan’s Basketball Camp (Boys Ages 10–13) at Kenmore West
➡️ Only 9 spots remain!

Beginner Sports Program (Ages 5–7) at Kenmore West
➡️ Just 9 spots left!

NEW! Youth Sports & Fitness Program (Ages 5–10) at Gloria J. Parks Community Center
➡️ Registration is now open!

Boys Pickup Hoops (Ages 10–13) at Gloria J. Parks Community Center
➡️ Registration is now open!

Girls Basketball Camp (Ages 5–13)
➡️ Registration is open with plenty of spots available!

Coming Soon: Healthy Buffalo Girls Basketball League
➡️ Our end-of-summer league is just around the corner! If your daughter loves basketball—or wants to learn—we’d love to have her join us.

I’ll include links to each program below if you’d like to learn more.

At Healthy Buffalo, our mission has never been to create the next superstar. If that happens, wonderful.

Our mission is much bigger than that.

It’s to help raise young people who are healthy enough to chase their dreams, resilient enough to overcome setbacks, confident enough to believe in themselves, and kind enough to lift up the people around them.

Because those qualities will matter long after the scoreboard is forgotten.

That’s the future we’re trying to build at Healthy Buffalo.

Healthier. Stronger. Kinder. More Resilient.

One child, one practice, one game, and one positive experience at a time.

Thank you to every parent who trusts us with your children. It is a responsibility I never take lightly, and I promise we’ll continue doing everything we can to help your kids grow—not just as athletes, but as people.

I hope to see you and your family in the gym this summer.
