Norfolk N’ Chance stay locked atop League B. R.I.P Ent makes a statement with win over Court Justice in League A.
Buffalo, NY- Another mammoth day of basketball rocked the Knights of Columbus this past Sunday as Kronies Jamfest 2 entered it’s seventh week. In Game 1, Victor’s faced off against Papa Jake’s as both teams battled to stay in the mix atop League A. Papa Jake’s starting center Andy Bush was back in the lineup, which helped make up for the absence of Dave Hall who missed the game. Papa Jake’s jumped out to a quick lead and help it throughout led by league leading scorer Marc Antecki who scored 18 points in the contest. Final Score: Papa Jake’s 76, Victor’s 61.
In game 2 a red hot Norfolk N’ Chance squared off against the Billies. Jon Plail was nearly unstoppable in this one, scoring a season high 35 points. The Billies played tough and kept it close early on behind the strong play of Mark Ward (11 points) and Tom Cavanaugh (12 points), but it wasn’t enough to keep up with Norfolk N’ Chance. Final Score: Norfolk N’ Chance 72, Billies 51.
In game 3 Healthy Buffalo took on the WWIAFTM as both teams looked to improve their fortunes in the division. The Tub Men jumped out to a massive lead behind 19 first half points by Gian Fernandez (22 points) to lead 39-19 at the break. In the second half Healthy Buffalo came out firing cutting the lead in half behind another great game by Terence Dill (22 points) and Franklin Jackson, who had another strong game at both ends of the court. But in the end the Tub Men held on for the win, final score 68 to 56.
In Game 4 Court Justice took on R.I.P. Ent in a barn-burner. In a high-scoring shootout full of emotion and intensity both teams came ready to play. Moe Bailey had an excellent game leading Court Justice with 27 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop the balanced attack of R.I.P. Ent who had six players score in double figures, led by Mitch Reese (22 points). Final Score: R.I.P. Ent 88, Court Justice 80.
In the final game of the night Swagged Out was looking to stay locked atop the division Norfolk N’ Chance, while Ebony & Ivory looked to avenge an early season loss to Swagged Out. Ebony & Ivory played a solid defensive game, but couldn’t put up enough points on the board to stay on pace with Swagged Out. Chris Wagner hit a pair of second half three pointers to help build a double digit lead and then Jerry Shanley finished the them off at the free throw line knocking down eight consecutive free throws as time winded down. Final Score: Swagged Out 66, Ebony & Ivory 57.
Next Week’s Games to Watch
A red-hot Shining Force, led by Dave Winiarski, looks to keep it’s winning streak going against first place Court Justice who are coming off a big loss in week seven against R.I.P. Ent. A win by Shining Force would put the entire division up for grabs in the final two weeks of the season. In the 4pm game R.I.P. Ent looks to build of their big win this past Sunday against Sponge Bob Square Pants who are looking to finish the season strong after a disappointing start.
