Swoopin’ In On Ya’ Girl remains the only undefeated team in the East, while Team First is the last undefeated team left in the West.
Buffalo, NY- Week 3 of Kronies Jamfest was underway at the Knights of Columbus this past weekend. In the first match of the day John Papincak and Swoopin’ In On Ya Girl took on former teammates Jordan Vaccaro, James Dovey and the rest of DJ Dovey Ent. It was an emotional game throughout. Free-agent Frank Dileo made his KJ3 debut and kicked in 7 points for DJ Dovey Ent, while Tom Lee (14 points) and Jordan Vaccaro (16 points) rounded the offensive attack, but it wasn’t enough as John Papincak had a season high 29 points to lead all scorers and pull out the W over his former teammates, 61-54.
In game two R.I.P. Ent and the Pick N’ Tootsie Rolls were both fighting for their first win of the season. Big man Paul Quarcini had a monster game for the Pick N’ Tootsie Rolls scoring 19 points including a strong two-handed put back dunk after an Anthony Morreale miss, but Jeremy Rowe (13 points) and Mitch Reese (22 points) responded with excellent games leading R.I.P. Ent to their first win of the season 68-56.
Next up was Matt Nagorski and the Queen City Stampede against Kronies Jamfest scoring leader Jon Burgio and Sponge Bob Square Pants. Ramone Alls had a breakout game for the Queen City Stampede scoring a season high 22 points, while on the other end Jon Burgio continued his dominance in the paint leading Sponge Bob with 24 points, while Matt Tucholski (17 points), Elton Frazier (13 points), and Adam LaFluer (20) all scored in double figures to pick up their second win of the season 79-69.
In the 4pm game AXA played Marc Antecki and the Hoosiers. Dave Hall put on an inspiring performance scoring 22 points to lead the Hoosiers, while Kronies Jamfest newcomer Shane Canahai (21 points) responded with another excellent game to lead AXA, who were without their second leading scorer Mike Ridge. Final Score 60-56.
The 5pm game was a battle of undefeated teams as Hit It & Quit It squared off against Bashir Ansari and Team First. Greg Cherry (19 points) led Team First with another excellent game leading Team First to a 3-0 start to the season and sole possession of first place in the Western Conference. Final Score: Team First 64, Hit It & Quit It 61.
In the 6pm game Swagged Out battled the Billies in another thriller between Western Conference powerhouses. Will Castro continued his strong season leading Swagged Out with 18 points, while Pat Lester scored a career high for the Billies with 19 points to complement Mark Ward who scored 15 points. In the end the Billies squeezed out the win in a close one 56-55.
In game seven Team Rocket was looking for their first win against undefeated VeryAggressiveGuys. Team Rocket put together another impressive defensive game holding the VeryAggressiveGuys to 30 points and picked up their first win of the season, despite an excellent game by Mike Bartoszek who scored 13 points. Final Score: Team Rocket 38, VeryAgressiveGuys 30.
In the final game of the night Healthy Buffalo played Dan Moreno and Hoops Unlimited. Healthy Buffalo’s John Bowen took control of this one from the start scoring 28 of his 41 points in the first half in a memorable Kronies Jamfest performance becoming only the forth player in league history to break the 40 point barrier.
Game Four Game of the Week
In the 5pm game the Hoosiers take on R.I.P. Ent in a rematch of last seasons semifinal. After a slow start to the season this is a must win for both teams as jockeying for a spot in the playoffs is underway.
